Williamstown Theatre Festival presents Alien/Nation, an immersive theatrical experience in two parts written and devised by Eric Berryman, Jen Silverman and the Company of The Forest of Arden, inspired by real events that took place in Western Massachusetts in 1969.

From Tony Award-nominated director Michael Arden and the company of The Forest of Arden comes an immersive world premiere theatrical experience that takes you on a journey throughout Williamstown, revealing unexpected surprises around you and within you.

You can choose to experience this completely unique site-specific performance by foot or by car. This new work is devised in collaboration with writers Jen Silverman and Eric Berryman, with members of Williamstown Theatre Festival’s Community Works program.

The Forest of Arden is a diverse Company of multi-disciplinary artists, designers, musicians, writers, stage managers, filmmakers and makers who strive to devise immersive, imaginative and provocative theatrical experiences with an emphasis on site-specific work and innovating technologies while serving communities and the people in them.

“We believe that artists need to create,” they say, “especially in times of fear and uncertainty. We also believe it is duly important the artist serves its community and audiences during such times. It is our hope that we are not only able to make exciting theatre, but expand the idea of what performance might be and assuring the safety of both performers and audiences, that we might all have an enjoyable experience outside of the theatre. We hope our idea spreads.

“The Forest of Arden is a Company that aims to create equitable spaces for artists of all races, gender identities, sexualities, abilities, and socio-economic backgrounds to create work that might inspire others to do the same.”

This production will be performed in an open air venue next to the ’62 Center for Theatre & Dance (and the chairs will be provided and sanitized between performances). The theatre encourages you to dress for the weather.

Rain Policy: This production will perform in light rain, and the Festival may postpone the curtain time slightly so that the show is able to perform. If the Festival must cancel a performance before the show begins, then the Box Office will reach out to you within 48 hours and try to exchange them into another performance, a refund or a donation. If a performance is cancelled due to weather after 45 minutes, then the performance will be considered fulfilled, and unfortunately, the theatre will not be able to exchange or refund tickets.
