Vilkomen, bien venue, welcome to the Kit Kat Club, where a Bohemian crowd of writers and musicians experiences Berlin in the 1930s — and the rise of fascism.
John Kander & Fred Ebb’s Tony Award-winning musical Cabaret, based on a novel and stories by Christopher Isherwood, will open the Boyd-Quinson Stage season. The show will bring together Krysta Rodriguez (NBC’s “Smash,” Broadway’s Into the Woods revival, The Collaboration, Deaf West Theatre’s Spring Awakening) as Sally Bowles, Nik Alexander (Broadway: Ain’t No Mo’, Motown the Musical; Hamilton 2nd National Tour) takes the stage as the Emcee and Dan Amboyer (“Younger,” “Uncoupled,” “William & Katherine: A Royal Romance”) as Cliff Bradshaw.
The new production is directed by BSC Artistic Director Alan Paul, musical direction by Angela Steiner and choreography by Katie Spelman. (The award-winning musical has a book by Joe Masteroff based on the play by John Van Druten.) The play will run June 14 to July 8 on the Mainstage.
BSC Associate Artist Alysha Umphress (BSC’s Who Could Ask for Anything More?, Mr. Saturday Night, Broadway’s On the Town, American Idiot) appears as Fraulein Kost — Richard Kline (“Three’s Company,” Don’t Think Twice, Broadway’s Waitress, Wicked First National Tour) as Herr Schultz — and Candy Buckley (Broadway: Roundabout Theater Company’s 1998 Cabaret revival; Shakespeare in the Park: The Taming of the Shrew) as Fraulein Schneider, and Tom Story (Berkshire Theatre Group: Arsenic and Old Lace, Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You and The Actor’s Nightmare; Signature Theatre VA: An Act of God) as Ernst Ludwig.
The ensemble cast includes Julia Harnett, Kimberly Hudman, Evan Kinnane, Lina Lee, Charles Mayhew Miller, Ryland Marbutt, Fred Odgaard, and Tiffany Topol.
The production also includes music direction by Angela Steiner, scenic design by Wilson Chin, costume design by Rodrigo Muñoz, lighting design by Philip Rosenberg, sound design by Ken Travis, and wig design by Mary Martin. The Production Stage Manager is Jason Brouillard.
The play was originally Co-directed and Choreographed by Rob Marshall and originally Directed by Sam Mendes.

This partnership with the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires will feature a panel including Alan Paul (BSC Artistic Director), Dr. Barbara Waldinger (Ph.D. Theatre, CUNY Graduate Center) and Roselle Chartock (author and artist, Professor Emerita of Education), moderated by Jeffrey Robins (former US Delegate to the UN Human Rights Commission).
