FreshGrass Presents Chris Thile and Dom Flemons
September 26 @ 8:00 pm
FreshGrass Presents Chris Thile and Dom Flemons live in concert in Courtyard D. On what would have been the Saturday night of the 10th annual FreshGrass Bluegrass and Roots Music Festival at Mass MoCA, FreshGrass presents two nationally recognized artists who have become part of the family this past decade.
Grammy Award-winner Dom Flemons is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, actor, music scholar, historian, and record collector. He plays banjo, guitar, harmonica, jug, percussion, quills, fife and rhythm bones. He was a founding member of The Carolina Chocolate Drops.
Multiple Grammy Award-winner and MacArthur Fellow Chris Thile, a member of Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek and the former host of the radio program Live from Here, is a mandolin virtuoso, composer, and vocalist. Thile crosses boundaries and genres, creating a distinctly American canon and a new musical aesthetic for performers and audiences alike.
Live events at Mass MoCA take place outside this fall, in accordance with Massachusetts Phase 3 guidance.
Museum staff will wear masks, and you will need to except while eating or drinking within each designated audience space. Doors will open a half-hour before the music begins. You’ll enter for concerts and events through the main museum entrance, though this time we need you to bring your own chair.
All events are rain or shine, and they will not allow outside food or beverages. Small bites and drinks are available for purchase during the show, and A-oK Berkshire Barbeque and Bright Ideas Brewing will be open on the museum campus before the show.
