Duo Nouveau

Guitarists and composers Colin Isotti and Andrew Szmauz combine their classical, flamenco, and jazz skills to adapt a variety of music from around the world.

Both students of Cuban-American maestro José Manuel Lezcano, they bring melodies and danceable grooves from Brazil, Spain, and Cuba to the stage.

Colin Isotti – After studying just outside of Nashville, TN, for two years with Dr. Stanley Yates, guitarist Colin Isotti returns to New England with a Master of Music and a whole new bag of tricks.

Performing some of the great works for the classical guitar, he has unearthed a nearly forgotten work by the great J.K. Mertz and is bringing it back to life. Isotti’s concerts will span through the ages, you will be able to hear music from the Renaissance by John Dowland, the baroque ornamentations of Domenico Scarlatti, the sounds of Spanish Impressionism with Joaquin Turina’s “Sonata para Guitarra”, his own compositions, and much more.

Andrew Szmauz – A New Hampshire-born guitarist and composer, Andrew Szmauz is currently enrolled at Keene State College for his Bachelor of Music Performance. There, he has been awarded the Jim and Mary Leonard Scholarship in Music, as well as the Redfern Arts Center Scholarship of music for outstanding musicianship.

Szmauz has recently developed his skills in early music, studying and performing on historical instruments such as the lute and vihuela de mano. He performs regularly in the New England area and brings a variety of early and contemporary repertoire to his audiences.
