WAM Theatre will present Erased Histories, a series of lively conversations with scholars, artists, and community members who will tell the true stories of Black and Indigenous Women who were Civil Rights pioneers.

Saturday September 17 at 2 p.m. – Professor Frances Jones-Sneed (MCLA) and artist/educator Nicole M. Young-Martin will speak at the Clark Art Institute.

Tuesday September 20 at 6 p.m. – Indigenous Historian Heather Breugl (Oneida and Stockbridge-Munsee) and Community Activist Gwendolyn VanSant (Multicultural BRIDGE) will speak at the Berkshire Athenaeum in Pittsfield.

Saturday September 24 at 3 p.m. – storyteller and inspirational speaker Amber Chand and Dr. Eden-Reneé Hayes will speak at the Stockbridge Public Library.

Along with these three live conversations, Indigenous Historian Heather Bruegl, Dr. Eden-Reneé Hayes, and Storyteller Onawumi Jean Moss will hold a virtual conversation on the WAM website as part of WAM Theatre’s Spotlight Series.

WAM Theatre offers the series as part of the programming surrounding their upcoming production of Cadillac Crew and in commemoration of Banned Books Week. The talks are free and open to all as part of ArtWeek Berkshires, and they are supported by the Brabson Library and Educational Foundation.

By the Way Berkshires is a digital magazine exploring creative life and community — art and performance, food and the outdoors — and I’m writing it for you, with local voices, because I’ve gotten to know this rich part of the world as a writer and journalist, and I want to share it with you.

If you’d like to see the website grow, you can join me for a few dollars a month, enough for a cup of coffee and a cider doughnut. Members get access to extra stories and multimedia, itineraries a bookmark tool. Let me know what you're looking for, and we’ll explore together.
