The Norman Rockwell Museum will hold a Book Launch Celebration for Jan Brett’s The Nutcracker — neet author/illustrator Jan Brett and Hedgie, a costumed character and favorite from her stories. You can set out on a Winter Wonderland Scavenger Hunt for kids and families and listen to recorded book readings by the artist herself.

The day brings activities, and you can sign up for each one separately, as space is limited.

Meet Jan Brett — Book signing 11 and 11:30 a.m. She will do her very best to sign books with personal inscriptions; depending on the number of attendees, she may provide hand-signed bookplates as an alternative; these will be available for all personal book copies.

Remarks, Reading, Drawing Demo and Book Signing — 1 p.m.
Jan Brett and the museum will give a drawing demo, readings and book signing of her newest book, The Nutcracker, as well as other classic favorites.

Meet Jan Brett — Book signing 2 to 4 p.m.

You’ll need a pre-ordered book for the book signings. (The museum asks for a minimum of one book and a maximum of two.)

The Norman Rockwell Museum’s winter show, Jan Brett: Stories Near and Far, honors one of the nation’s most widely read author/illustrators for children, with more than 40 million books in print. The show explores the breadth of her art and the travel experiences that have inspired her many children’s books and characters, from November 13 to March 6.

The show gathers works from many of her well-known stories, from Gingerbread Friends to The Umbrella and Honey … Honey, and up to her most recent book, Cozy, in more than 80 original paintings, with selections from her collection of objects and artifacts.

It includes full-color originals from from Daisy Comes Home, Gingerbread Baby, Hedgie Blasts Off, The Three Snow Bears, The Animals’ Santa, The Mermaid, Cinders, A Chicken Cinderella, On Noah’s Ark, The Turnip and The Snowy Nap and more, a video interview with Brett, an exhibition audio tour in her voice, and recorded book readings.
