Literary Conversations on Love
February 13 @ 4:30 pm

For Valentine’s Day, award-winning audiobook narrator/producer Alison Larkin and Berkshire actor and playwright Anne Undeland will host Literary Conversations on Love: Austen, Bronte, Alcott — reading from their audiobook classics: Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice and Little Women.
They will follow with a transatlantic discussion on marriage, love and womanhood and the experience of recording the works of these towering authors. The event will stream live on zoom.
“We have discovered that during the pandemic, people are suddenly finding solace and wisdom in the classics,” Larkin and Undeland say, “some of the listeners for the very first time. … We are passionate about bringing the classics to them.”
Larkin has created and produced awardwinning audiobooks through her imprint, Alison Larkin Presents. Recent releases include The Complete Novels of Jane Austen, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Larkin’s own bestselling novel The English American grew out of her autobiographical one- woman show about an adopted English woman who finds her birth parents in the United States. Larkin is also a comedian, and she has appeared on Broadway with the National Theater and Royal Shakespeare Company.
Undeland’s audiobook narrations of Little Women Parts 1 and 2 received critical acclaim and have become international bestsellers. She has played roles in productions for BBC Radio, the Australian Broadcasting Corp., NPR affiliates in the US and WBUR/Boston. As a playwright, her short play The Kiss won best play at the West Side Y’s short play festival, and her full-length play Lady Randy was produced by WAM Theatre and performed at Shakespeare & Company and Ventfort Hall.
As a performer, she has also appeared throughout the Northeast with WAM Theatre, Great Barrington Public Theatre, Berkshire Playwrights Lab, Barrington Stage, Stageworks, Capital Repertory Theatre, Mixed Company, Shakespeare & Company, Metropolitan Playhouse, Studio Theatre at Theatre Row and the New Repertory Theatre.
