The man who sold his skin
April 9 - April 22
Image Cinema presents The man who sold his skin, nominated for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film. The Tuniasian film director Kaouther Ben Hania tells the story of Sam Ali, a young sensitive and impulsive Syrian who has left his country for Lebanon to escape the war.
To be able to travel to Europe and live with the love of his life, he accepts the challenge to have his back tattooed by one of the World’s most sulfurous contemporary artists. Turning his own body into a prestigious piece of art may have consequences he cannot forsee. Sam will come to realize that his decision might actually mean anything but freedom.
“Tunisia’s ambitious Oscars entry from female writer-director Kaouther Ben Hania offers a provocative contemporary take on a Faustian bargain. An audacious … mix of drama, tragedy, romance, satire and dark humor.”
