Online Poetry: Mary Jo Salter

Online Poetry: Medicine for the Soul welcomes Mary Jo Salter for a virtual reading. Poet, editor, essayist, playwright, and lyricist, Salter has written eight collections of poems, most recently The Surveyors (2017), and a children’s book, The Moon Comes Home (1989), amont them a nominee for the National Book Critics Circle Award and a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. She is now the Krieger-Eisenhower Professor in The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University.

A former editor at the Atlantic Monthly, poetry editor at the New Republic, and co-editor of the fourth and fifth editions of the Norton Anthology of Poetry, she has also edited of Amy Clampitt’s Collected Poems and Selected Poems, and co-edited three editions of The Norton Anthology of Poetry. She also wrote the lyrics for composer Fred Hersch in the song cycle Rooms of Light: The Life of Photographs (2015).
