Music@Noon free concert

Carl Gutowski and James Fitzwilliam will perform a free concert on flute and organ in Troy Music Hall’s ongoing series.

Carl Gutowski is a classically trained flutist based in New York’s Hudson Valley and Cape Cod who has been performing in solo and chamber music settings for more than 30 years.

He is the 2022 first prize winner of the National Flute Association’s Adult Amateur competition. Highlight performances over the past few seasons include solo performances at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall; Troy Savings Bank Music Hall; the Cultural Center of Cape Cod; the Cape Cod Museum of Art; the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center; Concerts Con Brio in Poughkeepsie, NY; the Old Dutch Church in Kingston, NY; Scorca Hall at the National Opera Center in NYC.

He is also the Concert Manager of the Howland Chamber Music Circle in Beacon, NY, presenting chamber music concerts by world renowned musicians in the historic Howland Cultural Center.

James Fitzwilliam is a Hudson Valley pianist, organist and composer. He has served as Organist at Christ Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie since 2017. As a keyboard performer, he regularly appears with the choirs of Bard and Vassar Colleges, Cappella Festiva, Kairos, and the Hudson Valley Bach Festival.

As a composer, he has had works performed, commissioned and/or recorded by Christ Episcopal Church, Vassar and Bard Colleges, Cappella Festiva, Kairos and most recently by the Hudson Valley American Guild of Organists and the Bruderhof Community.

A native of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and educated at the Eastman School of Music (BM ’85 MM ’88), he has two adult children and lives in the wilds of Northern Dutchess County with his wife Julie and two cats.
