The Plant Connector from North Adams is coming to Pittsfield too the holidays with a popup shop and plant and craft workshops — and an opening party in the new space.

North Street welcomes “Plant Connector and Friends Pop-Up” to 64 North St., a carefully curated retail and workshop space that will offer a wide range of plants, home decor items and DIY classes. The Pop-Up aims to unite the community, inviting local food and creative vendors to join them as tey offer home decoration, curated vintage items, pottery, interesting plants and arrangements.

The Pop-Up will remain open through December 31 and will host workshops on terrariums, wreath making and artistic crafts, with a strong emphasis on community participation. The shop will prioritize the needs and interests of the community, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment where people can learn, socialize and shop.

The Plant Connector believes in an inclusive environment where everyone should have a space to explore their creativity, improve their homes and connect with like-minded individuals, say co-founders Emilee Yawn and Bonnie Marks.

The “Community Plant and Home Shop” will offer workshops with house plants and home crafts and foster community by serving as a social hub where people can share experiences, knowledge, and ideas and it will foster affordability with competitive pricing to ensure accessibility to various economic backgrounds.

The Plant Connector, co-founded by Emilee Yawn and Bonnie Marks in 2020, is driven by a shared passion for fostering a sense of community and a mission to spread the joy of plants. Emilee brings her expertise in landscape urbanism to the venture, having relocated to the Berkshires in 2017.

Her creative energy is a driving force behind the organization. On the other hand, Bonnie, a longtime resident of the Berkshires with 30 years of experience in owning small businesses, manages the financial and numerical aspects of the business, making them a well-balanced team. Their journey began when they crossed paths at Jacob’s Pillow, where they formed a deep connection rooted in their shared love for nature.

By the Way Berkshires is a digital magazine exploring creative life and community — art and performance, food and the outdoors — and I’m writing it for you, with local voices, because I’ve gotten to know this rich part of the world as a writer and journalist, and I want to share it with you.

If you’d like to see the website grow, you can join me for a few dollars a month, enough for a cup of coffee and a cider doughnut. Members get access to extra stories and multimedia, itineraries a bookmark tool. Let me know what you're looking for, and we’ll explore together.
