They Dance for Rain

They Dance For Rain, a collaborative and cross-culturaldance-making project in Nairobi, Kenya, holds their third benefit at The Foundry: Soft Shoe Boom Boom Spin Blue.

This interactive event includes an un-silent auction, tap dancers, a myriad of musical players, and live painting all composed and arranged by you! Artist Joe Wheaton will return to fill The Foundry with his extraordinary immersive projections. The evening will open with the original tragicomedy performance of Civil Motions: Scenes of the Familiar and the Absurd by JoJo McDonald and Stefanie Weber.

They Dance For Rain is directed by Pittsfield-based dance artist Stefanie Weber with associates Monika Pizzichemi (fine arts photography) and JoJo McDonald (performing arts). Since 2012, they have successfully partnered with many artists and groups with a shared interest in the value of expanding Tap Dance for all.

They perform, educate, exhibit, mentor, support, and represent. Through this they have witnessed truly life-changing results from sharing this art form. Much of this work has been made possible through the kindness and generosity of others.

Seating and bar open at 6:30 p.m., and the show begins at 7. This event is indoors.

A note from the Foundry — Parking is limited at the venue so please utilize the three public parking lots in Town. One is across from the Post Office, one is behind Berkshire Bank and the other is just off Main Street. They are clearly marked. Do not park at Trúc Orient Express Restaurant or the Post Office or you may receive a ticket.

By the Way Berkshires is a digital magazine exploring creative life and community — art and performance, food and the outdoors — and I’m writing it for you, with local voices, because I’ve gotten to know this rich part of the world as a writer and journalist, and I want to share it with you.

If you’d like to see the website grow, you can join me for a few dollars a month, enough for a cup of coffee and a cider doughnut. Members get access to extra stories and multimedia, itineraries a bookmark tool. Let me know what you're looking for, and we’ll explore together.
