The Sounds of Woodstock with Quintessential
August 20 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Will you still need me — will you still feed me — when I’m 64? Flashback to 1969 with Quintessential, a Berkshire a capella group performing songs from Woodstock days, accompanying the Norman Rockwell Museum’s summer show, Illustrating 1969, a look at popular artwork in a pivotal and colorful year (including art from the Beatles’ album of The Yellow Submarine).
The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. Lemonade on the Terrace, and the talk and performance will begin at 5 in the Main Gallery. It is part of Art, Love and Identity, a 50th anniversary summer talk and performance series through Aug. 20.
The series will explore creativity, productivity, and identity inspired by the three 50th Anniversary exhibitions. Explore the autobiographical elements in Rockwell’s art; learn about the mutually supportive connection between Rockwell and psychotherapist Erik Erikson, and reflect on the defining images from 1969, which shaped and reflected a period of profound cultural transformation.
