Spring wildflowers and how to find them

May 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Wake-robin isn’t the sweetest smelling flower in these woods, but it is easy to spot — it spreads three petals and three leaves. It is also called red or purple trillium.

Mass Audubon naturalist Zach Adams and teacher and education manager Dale Abrams will lead a Spring Ecology Workshop: Spring Wildflowers and How to Find Them at Lime Kiln Sanctuary.

Catch spring at its best at Lime Kiln Farm while diving into the ecological importance and conservation of the amazing wildflowers that grow at the sanctuary. The workshop will discuss identification, classification and the ecology of the colorful flowers that ornament the springtime forest.

You will need to register ahead — groups are limited to 11 people who sign up before the event, according to state Covid safety guidelines, and so Mass Audubon can’t allow walk-ins. They will ask all walkers to follow guidelines for safety and maintain six feet of distance and wear a face covering unless unable to do so due to medical conditions.

You’ll also need to dress for the weather.
