Auditory After Hours: Tune-Yards
May 15 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until May 15, 2021
Mass MoCA opens on a spring night for Auditory After Hours: a night out surrounded by 250,000 square feet of art and distance, with the music of Merrill Garbus and Tune-Yards.
What began as the homespun project of powerhouse musical mama Merrill Garbus, Tune-Yards has since evolved into a critically acclaimed duo churning out endlessly danceable and inventive indie-pop tracks. A collage of soulful “rhythms and art-punk dreams” (NPR), Tune-Yards’ sound is rooted in Garbus’ fiery, authoritative voice belting out pointed questions about race, gender, and body image. For their Auditory After Hours soundtrack, the duo’s recorded an all-new vocals-heavy set incorporating sounds from their recent release that will bring a whole new level of wow to the galleries.
Visitors can rotate in at 7, 7:30 and 8 p.m. Get tickets »
You can also choose to dive into the Auditory After Hours’ back catalogue and listen to
experimental hip-hop trio Clipping — Daveed Diggs, William Hutson, and Jonathan Snipes — and their underwater soundscape from December, or Sylvan Esso’s indie-pop soundtrack. Just talk with someone on staff when you arrive on the night, to listen to these past Auditory After Hours.
