Virtual Pillow: Jacob’s Pillow online
June 24 - July 8
In spring 2020, as theaters and performance spaces adapt to a physically distancing world, Jacob’s Pillow has launched a new series of online programming. Virtual Pillow is live on their website now with Pillow Talks and a deep archive of dance on film.
On June 20, the Pillow welcomed the summer with Dance We Must, a free virtual evening of performances.
On May 27, the Pillow celebrated the 143rd birthday of modern dance pioneer Isadora Duncan with a livestream and conversation with acclaimed dance artists Lori Belilove and Sara Mearns.
On May 6, the Pillow launched a YouTube premiere in honor of iconic dancer, choreographer, and arts leader Judith Jamison’s birthday. Jamison has left an indelible mark on the dance world, in her 21-year tenure as the Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and beyond.
The Pillow has also livestreamed performances and conversations with Pilobolus Dance Company and more.
Through the summer, the Pillow will create conversations with the dance companies and artists they had invited to their festival 2020, before the coronavirus compelled them to postpone it. They will hold live virtual events to share dance they love.
