London National Theatre: War Horse
April 1 @ 1:00 pm - April 6 @ 10:00 pm
The Mahaiwe Performing Art Center will screen the London National Theatre’s performance of War Horse live in HD to watch at home.
At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert’s horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on a hard and dangerous journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. Albert, who remained on his parents’ Devon farm, cannot forget Joey. Though still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find his horse and bring him home.
The play, based Michael Morpurgo and adapted for the stage by Nick Stafford, incorporates life-size puppets by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company to bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to live on stage. More than 8 million people around the world have seen it, an iventive stage drama with music and song.
This event will stream virtually from March 31 to April 6 at 1, 4, 7 and 10 p.m.
The show “contains loud sound FX, gunfire, flashing lights and strobe lighting. Recommended for ages 10+”
