The Berkshire Museum’s Little Cinema returns with a series of classic sci-fi films to celebrate the Museum of the Moon exhibition, including The Wonderful: Stories from the Space Station.

More than 20 years ago, rival nations put aside political and cultural differences and came together in a demonstration of international cooperation to create something unique — the International Space Station. The Wonderful draws together personal stories from individuals around the world who have been a part of this endeavor, giving insight into human nature and our relationship with the Earth.

A talkback will follow with artist and Berkshire Museum Trustee Josh Simpson and astronaut Cady Coleman, who both appeared in the film.

The museum suggests the film may be best for kids ages 10 and up. This event will be in the Berkshire Museum’s Little Cinema, which is currently hosting programming at a reduced capacity. It is free for teens attending the Teen Sci-Fi League discussion immediately following the screening.

Museum of the Moon is an installation of lunar views and glowing moonlight by UK artist Luke Jerram and an ethereal soundscape by award-winning composer Dan Jones, bringing together science, starlight and celebratory seasonal fun.

Museum of the Moon is an exact replica of Earth’s moon, a gently glowing orb suspended in midair. Jerram created the installation using NASA imagery of the lunar surface, hoping to inspire those who experience it to contemplate the many ways the moon connects humankind across time and culture.

The museum will hold eventsaround the exhibit, from family-friendly magic shows and activities to Paint & Sip, choral music, morning classes from Radiance Yoga, poetry, or a screening of a new documentary about NASA astronauts, The Wonderful, followed by discussion with astronaut Cady Coleman and Josh Simpson, a deep space and cosmos-inspired glass artist.
