One impulse / one wood

Marie Brown will lead a living sculpture walk at Chesterwood, with hands-on collaboration with artists Rick and Laura Brown, through 'One impulse from a vernal wood,' their outdoor sculpture show of new work they made as artists-in-residence here, on view this summer and fall.

A public conversation and conference undertakes a collective and comparative study of the art academy outside Europe and the United States as a way of setting art and its associated practices in a global context. Speakers will explore institutions in Brazil, Turkey, Mexico, Japan, China, Colombia, Iran and elsewhere.

Log Lunch: Welcome Back

A tradition of the Center since 1972, Log Lunches are held on Fridays through the college year at noon at the Log at 78 Spring St. in Williamstown. Each week, Williams students prepare and serve a vegetarian lunch, followed by a talk on an environmental topic. Students and faculty speak, as well as local, national and international organizations.

Fall planetarium shows at Williams College

Williams College invites the community to travel the skies at the Milham Planetarium, inside the Old Hopkins Observatory. The high-precision Zeiss Skymaster ZKP3/B opto-mechanical planetarium projector will show phenomena from motions of the planets to phases of the moon and more.

Sculpting the land

Valerie Balint, Program Manager of Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios, will lead a gentle two-mile walk in Sculpting the Land: Daniel Chester French’s Artist-Designed Landscape at Chesterwood — a Housatonic Heritage Walk to explore the landscape of the home, studio and gardens sculptor Daniel Chester French.
