85th Annual Harvest Festival

Berkshire Botanical Garden will hold its 85th annual Harvest Festival with children’s activities, pony and hay rides, games and live entertainment, more than 100 regional artisans, a farm market, tag and plant sales.

Makers & Shakers: The Luthier’s Craft

Lutherie, the luther's craft of creating stringed wooden instruments by hand, is a centuries-old practice. Hancock Shaker Village will bring together a new generation of luthiers in conversation — Trevor Healy, a guitar maker from Easthampton; Nathaniel Rowan, a violin maker from Putney, Vt.; and William Seeders Mosheim, a banjo maker, Dorset, Vt.

In a Grove

Mass MoCA presents In A Grove, a new opera based on the Japanese short story adapted by Akira Kurosawa as his award-winning 1950 film Rashomon. The opera in development is composed by Christopher Cerrone and the innovative Metropolis Ensemble, an orchestra dedicated to a new future for classical music.
