Basket weaving workshop

Sandy Salada, a basket maker since 1995, will lead a basket-making workshop at Hancock Shaker Village. Weave a flat-bottomed foot-square basket with low sides, the right size to carry a pie or casserole dish. The basket has an open bottom woven in natural and dyed reed (navy, dark green, red, burgundy or brown) with an oak handle, and a wrapped handle if time allows.

Shaker Foodways: Why pie?

In response to the popularity of the new Shaker Foodways tour, Hancock Shaker Village will offer workshops this fall beginning with Why Pie? Learn the secrets of a good pie crust, test out a Shaker rolling pin, and use Village apples to make an apple pie.

Shimmering flowers: pop up Gold Leaf Workshops

Learn about the artistic medium of gold leafing and create a gold leaf work of art with Berkshire Botanical Garden’s art education intern, Mariah Baca. This drop-in workshop is open to all ages and levels. In Shimmering Flowers, New York City artist Nancy Lorenz draws on years in Japan and as a contemporary abstract painter.
