Halloween events

It’s ghost season, and pumkpin walks, hay rides, haunted houses, performances and parties are returning to the hills … and I’m gathering holiday events here. (Almost all of these are nonprofit. I’ve included one or two that are not, because they’re unusual.)

 

Wednesday, Oct. 21

Saturday, Oct. 24

Art OMI — Trick or Treat in The Fields 1 to 3 p.m. at  the Fields Sculpture Park, free afternoon of Halloween fun, art-making, hayrides and a candy hunt among the sculptures. Come in costume, craft a treat bag and enjoy cider and popcorn. Free.

Bennington Fallapalooza — Downtown celebration 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., gifts, food, live entertainment and games. Trick-or-Treating to 3 p.m., Bennington Farmers’ Market 10 a.m.  to 1 p.m., wagon rides noon to 3 p.m. Bennington, Vt. betterbennington.com

Thursday, Oct. 29

Hoosic Halloween Parade — Free family event at Wood Park, 6 p.m. Prizes for cutest, funniest, most original, scariest, and best family costumes. hayc3.org

Norman Rockwell Museum — Walking history tour of Stockbridge Cemetery, 5 p.m. Burial sites of Norman Rockwell, Elizabeth Freeman, the Sedgwick Family and other notable town residents. Cider and donut reception on the lawn by the bell tower parking area at the Old Town Hall, Stockbridge. nrm.org

Clark Art Institute — Ghosts and gore in four free gallery talks, 11 a.m.noon, 2 and 3 p.m. in the permanent collection. Ephoria, an all-women’s a cappella group from Williams College, performs in costume at 1 p.m. in the lower lobby, with rock, country, pop and jazz. Kids of all ages welcome to come in costume (accessories like swords are not allowed in the galleries) for Halloween treats. 225 South St., Williamstown, clarkart.edu
