Hand-thrown vessels, a sandy dun bowl tinted inside with a smooth jade-green glaze, a platter swept with terracotta vines … The Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail gathers artists in the hilltowns every spring for an annual studio tour, online and in-person.

Some 20 or more potters come together each year at eight studios in Shelburne Falls, Greenfield and the Northampton area, and they invite guest artists in from Maine, Vermont and New York. You can visit the Asparagus Pottery Trail map for more.

All of the artists will talk about their work, technique and inspiration, and they will have wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics on hand for the table, house and garden — from Steve Théberge’s textured earth tones to Lucy Fagella’s translucent glazes and more.
