Bash Bish Falls State Park surrounds the highest waterfall in Massachusetts, where the water drops about 80 feet into a deep green plunge pool.

You can park at the lot on Falls Road in Mount Washington, Mass., and at Taconic State Park off N.Y. Route 344 in Copake Falls, N.Y. From the Massachusetts side, the hike is a little over half a mile but steeper and more rugged. From the New York side it’s a mile and a half but more gradual. The trails are open from sunrise to sunset, year-round.

Taconic State Park in New York state offers picnicking and camping and access to the South Taconic Trail, a 12.4-mile hiking trail.
