Dominic Palumbo raises Highland cattle, Jersey geese, Dorset sheep and other heritage breeds on his farm, as he grows vegetables and forages for local flavors and aromatics. He has farmed here in Shefield since 1991 on a farmstead that dates back to late 1760s.
A few miles from downtown Sheffield, Lime Kiln wildlife sanctuary and Drury Preserve, he keeps what he describes as ‘a small, diverse, eco-agriculture farm that produces clean food.’
Anyone is welcome year-round to visit the farm and meet the animals, Palumbo says, and to look at the foods he has in season — meats, eggs, nuts, honey infused with dandelion, fresh and dried mushrooms, hot sauces from homegrown peppers … and many more.
