Pick-your-own berries and Garden Center

The farm market and plant nursery on Route 8 is open year-round with local fare and their own produce and garnishes for it. In the market they carry pastas and sauces, nuts and cheeses and locally made groceries, and they also have a deli counter with sandwiches and rotisserie chicken, and baked goods, pies, cider doughnuts … And in the winter they gather holiday plants and evergreens.

Whitney’s is open with Christmas trees and the Farm Market for holiday gifts. You can call 413-442-4749 or order online.

From spring to fall they carry their own produce — greens, fruits and vegetables — strawberries, summer squashes, tomatoes. And in late summer they grow some of the sweetest corn in the hills. You can picnic outside near the ice cream stand and a whimsical playgrouhd of wooden structures to climb on.

The garden center opens in April with herbs and flowers, annuals and perennials (some native and some newcomers), hanging baskets … You can walk through the greenhouses and around long outdoor tables of shade plants and herbs, marigolds and nasturtiums. They carry fruit trees and berry bushes too. They also make their own and mulch and straw etc.

In late July and early August, they run pick-your-own blueberries in the fields up behind the barn. And in the fall they carry local apples: Macouns and Cortlands, Honeycrisp and more.
