Get ready to ring in the new year by making your own disco ball or designing a lantern decorated with images from the Clark’s collection. Visitors can enjoy the museum free today with family activities. These may be the shortest days of the year, the museum says, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be full of happiness and light.
The fun continues as we combine light and a bit of theater to create our own shadow puppets with MAPS (MusicArtPuppetSound), a Berkshire/New York-based arts nonprofit. MAPS leads children in an exploration of shadow play, inventing and performing with both larger-than-life and teeny-tiny shadow puppets.
You can also check out the pop-up installation of Clark images focused on sunlight and shadows in the Manton Study Center for Works on Paper from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free admission all day. Special activities in the Clark Center lower level, Family Room, and Museum Pavilion from 1 to 4 p.m.
By the Way Berkshires is a digital magazine exploring creative life and community — art and performance, food and the outdoors — and I’m writing it for you, with local voices, because I’ve gotten to know this rich part of the world as a writer and journalist, and I want to share it with you.
If you’d like to see the website grow, you can join me for a few dollars a month, enough for a cup of coffee and a cider doughnut. Members get access to extra stories and multimedia, itineraries a bookmark tool. Let me know what you're looking for, and we’ll explore together.
