February 19 — l’Air de Panache — Bergamot and Lemongrass Witbier
In addition to bergamot’s various culinary uses, it has traditionally been used for medicinal purposes as well. As a brewery committed to sourcing as many sustainable ingredients as possible, and people who also try to live as naturally as possible, Hot Plate invites Luna Faun back to the taproom for a short demonstration on herbalism as well as a demonstration on how to make a herbal medicine using elderberry … and a hot plate.
“Herbs can be used for cooking, medicine, and self expression,” Hot Plate says, “and no beer style captures all of these qualities better than the saison. Also known as a farmhouse ale, this style originated with farmers in southern Belgium and northern France and featured ingredients that were locally available and in-season. While modern life makes. us increasingly disconnected from the natural world, we are celebrating the many uses of what the Earth naturally provides for us.”
Beer launch begins at 5 p.m. and event begins at 7.
