The Black Mozart

Tanglewood Learning Institute's Full Tilt presents Bill Barclay & Concert Theatre Works' The Black Mozart, a program on Joseph Bologne, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Bologne was a decorated military officer, champion swordsman, acclaimed violinist, composer, and conductor and an artist of color in 18th-century France.

Meet the Makers: Flute maker and flutist

Tanglewood Learning Institute hosts Meet the Makers with flute head joint maker Aiven O’Leary and flutist and artist in residence Alan Weiss, in the Linde Center Studio E at Tanglewood. The session will display the creation of a handmade flute from one of the world’s leading makers of concert flutes, the William S. Haynes Company.

Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra

The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra with Huichang Yan, conductor, will perform in Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood.
With its roots in the musical heritage of its homeland, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra is a cultural phenomenon: an ensemble of more than 80 players performing on traditional Chinese instruments in a Western configuration.

On summer nights, on Thursdays in July and August and early September, Naumkeag will hold a community party with live music in the gardens, ranging from American Roots to Blue Grass to Jazz. Bring the family, bring a picnic, bring dancing shoes and enjoy the sunset on a Gilded-Age lawn.
